Grounds

A lush colourful eden to explore....

Shades of vibrant blossom decorate the multitude of trees, magnolias, wild orchids and rhododendron bask in the sunshine and each morning there is a spectacular, brilliantly unrehearsed dawn chorus.

The lakes are home to Mallard ducks and Canadian geese and early morning risers are rewarded with the sight of pinkish steam rising from the surface.  The serene setting also attracts herons, green woodpeckers, terrapins and the occasional kingfisher.

As the sun warms your face and fresh air fills your lungs, just a simple stroll around the grounds will begin to lift your spirits.  With the warmer weather there is now an abundance of colour and a nice contrast between the flowering shrubs and the many, well established trees.  These provide plenty of shade if you just want to sit and daydream or get stuck into a good book.

Horse Chestnut, Beech, Larch, Lime, Pine, Yew and Oak trees all line the meandering driveway and around the house you will discover Mulberry, Alder, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Poplars, Rowan, Weeping Ash, Sycamore and Ginko; the leaves of which have been used for over 4,000 years in remedies to increase circulation to the brain and to treat memory loss and senile dementia.  The mighty Cedar Tree with its distinctive sweet scent is unmistakeable as you draw nearer to the house.
